Our History
Beracah Ministries of Reconciliation and Restoration is a service oriented program with a long and rich history. Although the name is new, the history spans many years. It began as a non-profit agency named Give Us This Day, Inc (GUTD) founded by Rev. Joshua D. Phillips and O. Virginia Phillips in 1977. It was a agency that created and provided community outreach services; social and counseling services; led the nation in the number of bi-racial and trans-racial adoptions; and created an Extended Family Homes program (long term foster care) for hard to place children in the system who needed permanent homes. In 2008, the visionaries transferred oversight of the agency to a different director so they could concentrate on additional services.
In 1993, Dr. Phillips founded Women of Purpose (WOP), with the mission to empower women to discover and develop their purpose and to courageously walk in their true identity so they could lead and serve with full assurance of God’s plan for their lives. Men of Purpose (MOP) was also founded and led by Rev. Joshua Phillips with the principles of preparing men and youth to be successful and responsible providers and protectors of their families. In 2012, the name, Women of Purpose was amended to update the name to Women, Men and Youth of Purpose International (WMYOPI) for the purpose of incorporating the whole family
Beracah Ministries of Reconciliation and Restoration (BMORR) encompasses the mission and vision of the historic organizational strides before it. BMORR is taking community to a higher level and reaching more people through networking and outreach. The name was updated to incorporate additional programing and services, opportunities and resources for self-sufficiency, advocacy, leadership and social responsibility. BMORR seeks to positively impact the lives of individuals, families and communities to provide a positive change for present and future generations.
